Laura Linney, best known for her strong but weak characters, is among of the most celebrated American actors of the present. Her father was a celebrated playwright, but Linney was raised as an all-only child by a single mom, a nurse. Through the summer months when she was with her father, Linney developed a passion for theatre. Her first stage experience was first in Brown University then at Juilliard School. Following her graduation from Brown University, she began her Broadway debut in the following year. Within two years of the time, her debut film was released and the following year, her debut on television. In the years since she has appeared in a variety of TV productions, films as well as stage productions. There were many awards she received over the course of her career such as several Primetime Emmy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards. Her nominations include five Tony Awards and three Academy Award nominations. But, in spite of her awards and accolades, the stage is where she's at and she is determined to act on both screen and stage.
