Laura Linney is an American actress who is well-known for her performance of strong but vulnerable characters. After spending the summers with her father's business Laura Linney was captivated with the theatre. Later, at Brown University she studied acting and at Juilliard School, after which the career of her choice took off. In just two short months after graduating the actress began her Broadway career. In the following year, she made her debut on film and television. Her appearances have been on a variety of television, film and stage programs since. She has been awarded numerous prizes throughout her career. These include four Primetime Emmy Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, three Academy Award Nominations, and five Tony Award Nominations. Her nominations include five Tony Awards as well as three Oscar Awards nominations. But, in spite of her distinctions and awards, theater is her main interest and she is determined to perform on screen and stage.
